This annual free festival, taking place on May 21, has grown into a local tradition that includes amazing local art, exciting live music and dance performances, vendor booths and fabulous food.
On the forefront of the art scene, the SDCCU Festival of Arts in North Park celebrates all types of art forms including a live art element. There will be something for everyone, including the kids. The hands-on Kids Art Block offers children the chance to participate in a variety of interactive activities designed to stimulate and inspire their imaginations and create their own masterpieces. Come thirsty to the Craft Beer Block and sample brews from San Diego’s favorite breweries. All proceeds benefit North Park Main Street, the non-profit organization committed to the revitalization of the North Park Business Improvement District.
Don’t miss the live art! The Live Art Expo at the (2015) SDCCU Festival of Arts in North Park hosted a variety of contemporary urban artists that will be creating unique works of art on two vans, a food truck, an industrial city dumpster, refrigerators and 2 large works on canvas. Included in the live art section this year will be artists painting custom hats, skate decks, boom boxes and more. Each artist will have creative freedom to customize and transform the various objects into one of a kind and original works of art. The artists will work in a variety of methods and styles using spray paint, markers, acrylic and enamel paints. Festival-goers will get a unique perspective and experience as they witness the creative process in action.
Attendees 21 and over are encouraged to come thirsty to partake in the Waypoint Craft Beer Block for unlimited tasters from a selection of over 30 local craft brewers, several of which are ranked as the best new breweries in San Diego. With the extended hours, come two beer block sessions – session 1 is 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. and session 2 is 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for $30.00 pre-sale.
