Can you believe Spring Break is almost here? Didn’t we just celebrate the New Year? Time sure is flying by, but the good news is that there are so many choices for Spring Break destinations near North County San Diego. Whether you’re enjoying your break with the family or looking for a little adults-only fun, we’ve got you covered. Here are some of our favorite Spring Break getaways that are only a drive away.
Take a trip to Disneyland
While we have plenty of amazing theme parks here in North County (LEGOLAND and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park among them), you don’t have to drive too far to get to the granddaddy of them all. Disneyland is only about 65 miles away from North County San Diego, making it ideal for a family road trip. You can make it a fun day trip or spend a night or two so you can explore all that this amazing destination has to offer.
Enjoy wine tasting in Temecula
While most people don’t associate wine tasting with Southern California, we actually have a robust wine-growing region just a stone’s throw away. Temecula, located less than an hour from North County San Diego, is home to more than 30 vineyards and wineries. Here you can feel like you’ve been transported to another world. Enjoy tastings, take guided or self-guided tours, and book a night or two in a nearby hotel, bed and breakfast, or Airbnb. You can even book hot air balloon rides!
Experience history and culture in Long Beach
Located about 85 miles north of North County, Long Beach has so much to offer. Are you a history buff? Then do not miss touring the Queen Mary. This historic ship is docked in Long Beach and offers tours, events, exhibits, and amazing dining options. Book a night on the ship and imagine what it would be like to traverse the Atlantic in the vessel 80 years ago. While you’re there, be sure to check out the Aquarium of the Pacific located nearby. This is a fun trip whether you have kids in tow or not!
Visit a National Park
If you love outdoor adventures, then you have plenty of options. In fact, California is home to several National Parks. Head to the Channel Islands to explore five islands and their unique habitats. For those craving a desert adventure, Joshua Tree is just the ticket. Do you want to experience one of the hottest places on earth? Then head to Death Valley. Or see some of the world’s largest and oldest trees at Sequoia & Kings Canyon. Of course, you won’t be disappointed by a trip to Yosemite to see Half Dome, either. These are just a sampling of what this amazing state has to offer. You can plan a day trip or spend the entire week exploring some of Mother Nature’s most beautiful landscapes.
