St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church invites you to join the fun at its annual Greek Festival on June 10-12.
In over four decades, the St. Spyridon Community has established a reputation of serving the finest homemade Greek foods and pastries in all of California. Its community members are recognized as the finest cooks who use unsurpassed recipes and only top-grade ingredients. Get your annual super-dose of traditional and contemporary Greek Music all weekend! The Olympians will tear it up all weekend long at the main stage, playing mainstream Greek favorites for your listening and dancing enjoyment. Orestis Koletsos and Jaime Smith are a dynamic musical duo who will impress you with their craft at The Oracle Wine Bar on Saturday from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m., and Sunday from 3 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Kompanía will be churning out a variety of Greek music amalgamations at The Oracle Wine Bar on Friday and Saturday 6 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. Tatoolis will be performing popular Greek tunes at The Oracle Wine Bar on Sunday from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. Drómia will delight your senses with their selections of traditional Greek music spanning 200 years. See them at the main stage on Saturday from 11a.m. until1 p.m.
These Greek bands will be performing Greek dance music all weekend long, so jump in and have fun! If you are not well-versed in the art of Greek dancing, not to worry, as there will be mid-day lessons provided at the main stage. But if you’d rather sit back and relax, there will be several dance performances given by the young folks of our community. A special presentation will be held on Sunday at 6 p.m. featuring traditional Greek music and dance from the early and middle 1900s. The Greek Dance & Choral group Yefyra will perform their award-winning suite of dances in pre-WWII costumes. Accomplished musicians Orestis Koletsos, Jaime Smith, and Dan Ziagos will provide the live musical accompaniment. This suite was conceived and directed by Tony Petroulias and received two special awards at the 2016 Folk Dance and Choral Festival in Anaheim, CA. Don’t miss it!
The St. Spyridon Community enjoys sharing its heritage, culture, music, traditions, customs and culinary skills with their neighbors and friends in San Diego and Southern California. Your attendance always gives great pleasure to the many members of our community who have worked hard preparing this special three-day weekend for you.
Admission to the festival is free on Friday, and $3 on Saturday and Sunday.
Park for free and take the free shuttle to the festival. Parking lot is behind the San Diego Unified School District offices near Park Blvd. & El Cajon Blvd. Access to the lot is from Campus Ave., off Normal St. Directional signs to the parking lot will be posted. You can view the bus route on the festival web site. Shuttles will pick up and drop off in the parking lot.
