Show pride in your San Marcos home and your community by coming out to celebrate our veterans this November 11th, 2013. Join the San Marcos All Veterans Memorial Committee at Helen Bougher Memorial Park located at 1255 Borden Rd. for lunch, a ceremony, and a reception. The San Marcos Mayor, members of the United States Marine Corps, local business people, and San Marcos home owners and residents will all be there to honor our veterans.
The event kicks off with a delicious lunch at 12:00 pm provided by Prime Cut Grill for a price of $5.00. You can also enjoy free tea and coffee from the Old California Coffee House. Once everyone’s bellies are full, participants can pay respect and honor our country’s brave veterans during the ceremony taking place at 1 p.m. Seating will be limited, so please bring your own chairs from your San Marcos home. Following the ceremony, there will be a chance to chat and mingle during a reception. Please call Heidi at 760.727.1919 if you have any questions about this event. Our nation’s veterans have sacrificed and done so much for our country. Don’t let this pass by as just another day off of work, step out of your San Marcos home and join the rest of the community to say thanks.
Dress up your Vista home for the holidays with a Thanksgiving table arrangement made by you! Come on out to Alta Vista Gardens on Saturday, November 16th at 1:00 pm for a hands on class. A registration fee of $30.00 holds your spot in the class and pays for all of the materials including fresh flowers, greenery, and even a container. Just bring your own clippers. Be sure to register by Monday, November 11th to ensure you have the chance to create a beautiful table arrangement for your Vista home or wherever your travels may take you for Thanksgiving.
The class is taught by Suzy Long, who has been working with floral designs and arrangements for 30 years. She currently works as a designer for the e-commerce business at Dos Gringos Nursery. She is a wonderful instructor, as exemplified by the popularity of her classes, and all participants have a terrific time. Be sure to come early, or stick around afterward to enjoy the beautiful botanical gardens. Perhaps you can even get some more ideas for your Vista home over the holidays. If nothing else, the calmness and beauty of nature can help revitalize the soul during this busy time of year, so come on out and enjoy!
