Halloween is less than a week away, and there are tons of local events to get you in the spirit. Whether you’re looking for adults-only fun or something to enjoy with the whole family (including your dog), there are plenty of spooktacluar events to choose from. Here are some of our favorites.
Brick-or-Treat Party Nights at LEGOLAND
Catch the last Brick-or-Treat Party Night of the season on October 27 at LEGOLAND. This family-friendly event features live entertainment, costume contests, character meet and greets, treat stations with over one million treats, pumpkin patch, dance party, and much more. Trick-or-treat through the park and end the night with an awesome fireworks display. Special tickets are required for this event, so be sure to check out their website for more details.
Ghosts & Gravestones Tour
San Diego has its fair share of haunted places, and you can visit them on the Ghosts & Gravestones Tour. Travel back in time and learn about the notorious people who lived and died in the area. Take a journey through Old Town through El Campo Santo Cemetery and end up at the Whaley House, designated the most haunted house in the United States by the Travel Channel. Be forewarned, this spooky adventure is not suitable for children.
Oceanside Haunted Sunset Market
Oceanside’s popular weekly event turns spooky at the Haunted Sunset Market. On October 25 from 5 – 9pm, kids 12 and under can trick-or-treat through the vendor booths and join in the costume parade on the mainstage at 6pm. There will also be contests held at 8pm for the best scream and the most evil laugh. Halloween music plays all night long, and this is fun for the whole family.
The Rocky Horror Show Halloween Extravaganza
If you’ve never experienced The Rocky Horror Show at a movie theatre before, Halloween is the perfect time. The OB Playhouse is hosting a special Halloween Extravaganza on October 31 at 8pm, which includes a simultaneous live performance with audience participation. There will also be a costume contest, so dress in your craziest, funniest costume to have a chance at winning a season subscription.
Howl-O-Ween Mutt Run 5K Run/Walk
Bring your dog and help raise funds for California Labs and More Rescue at the Howl-O-Ween Mutt Run 5K Run/Walk. Happening on October 27, this fun run will get you in the Halloween spirit and help you work off a few extra calories in advance of the holiday. The race kicks off at 9am at Road Runner Sports on Copley Drive in San Diego. Cool off after your race with a drink or two at the beer garden. There will be a costume contest for the best dog costume, so get your buddy all decked out.
