Is there anything better than springtime in North San Diego County? We certainly don’t think so! And to prove it, we’ve compiled a list of some of best events happening in the area in April that really capture that spring vibe. If you need a dose of color, warmth, happiness and good times, be sure to check out one or more of these events.
Butterfly Jungle at Safari Park
(Through April 15) Can you imagine anything more magical than being surrounded by thousands of butterflies? Well guess what – you can! Head over to the Butterfly Jungle at Safari Park now through April 15 where you can marvel at the beautiful creatures up close. If you wear bright colors, the butterflies may even mistake you for a flower and land on you!
The Flower Fields
(Through May 13) Pretend to be Dorothy on her way to Emerald City and surround yourself with 50, count ‘em, 50 acres of blooms at the Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch. This spectacular sight is open until May 13, and overlooks the Pacific Ocean. It is undeniably one of the most beautiful places on earth. Trust us.
Oceanside Days of Art
(April 14-15) Head over to Oceanside this month to check out the juried art festival, Oceanside Days of Art. This two-day event showcases work in a variety of mediums including paintings, glass, fine jewelry, sculptures, ceramics and photography. The festival is held on Pier View Way downtown and is free to the public. Enjoy live performances, interactive activities for all ages, street chalk artists, a variety of food and much more.
Fallbrook Avocado Festival
(April 15) Do you love avocados? Then check out the Fallbrook Avocado Festival. Happening on Main Avenue in downtown Fallbrook, this popular event features craft and food booths, artisan walk, beer and margarita garden, live entertainment and even a Best Dressed Avocado Contest for the kids. Best of all, admission is free.
Earth Day Celebration at Alta Vista Botanical Garden
(April 21) Celebrate Earth Day at the beautiful Alta Vista Botanical Garden! This is a fantastic event for kids held at the beautiful gardens in Vista. There will be live music, an outdoor play area, food booths, vendors, and a plant and pottery sale. Stock up on native plants, rare species, veggies, and flowers and get gardening advice from the experts. The celebration is perfect for all ages and admission is free.
Local Farmers’ Markets
(Ongoing) One of the best ways to experience spring is to visit one of the many local farmers’ markets we have in North San Diego County. Each market is certified by the County Agricultural Commissioner, which ensures that all produce is grown in California. Check out the website for information on when and where each community holds their markets.
