Fourth of July Fireworks: Best Places to Enjoy Independence Day in North County San Diego

Fourth of July is almost here! If you live in North County San Diego, there are so many options for enjoying our great weather outdoors and watching the fireworks! We have put together a few of our favorites for young or old. Please Post your Favorite Vista, San Marcos, Escondido, Oceanside, or Carlsbad Independence Day Activity or link!

Vista, Ca: Brengle Terrace Park: Picnic (Family style…bring your own food, bbq, blankets, etc.)…It is best to get there before the afternoon in order to get a big enough spot for your crew! Fireworks are right above you after dark. A great place for all ages: but plan on walking a bit to get to the park from wherever you park. Brengle Terrace Park,1200 Vale Terrace Drive. The park opens at 7:00 a.m. Food and beverages will be available for sale in the ampitheatre after 1:00 p.m.Fireworks at 9pm.

Vista: Moonlight Amphitheater (at Brengle Terrace Park): dinner, drinks, live entertainment…and parking ($10) in one package deal. Live entertainment starts at 5pm, Fireworks at 9pm. Call (760) 726-1340 ext. 1571 for reservations. Website:

Downtown San Diego: Fourth of July Cruise in Balboa Bay: Discount Pricing through Living Social: set sail on the water and enjoy music, dancing, and fireworks on the 4th of July!  Only $15/person…seems like a great deal!

Oceanside: Fireworks from the Oceanside Pier: Great Views from the pier after an afternoon on the beach. Ofest Carnival at Myers/Mission all day til 11pm, or stroll the Street Fair at Mission and Pacific (both in downtown Oceanside, an easy walk to the pier later on). Live music, vendors, good times. Carlsbad: Legoland: Legoland California has its own fireworks show at 8:30pm. Admission drops to $2 after 7pm…this one gets a bit crowded for really little ones. The waterpark is open for the summer, great way to enjoy the sun before an evening under the stars. San Marcos: San Marcos will host an independence day celebration at Bradley Park: 465 S. Rancho Santa Fe Road, San Marcos near San Marcos High School. Fireworks start at 9pm. Activities include face painting for the kids, “jumpie houses,” music, vendors. Link: or call 760-744-9000.

Encinitas Ca: Cottonwood Creek Park (Vulcan Ave at Encinitas Bl) and Quail Botanical Gardens (230 Quail Gardens Drive, Encinitas Ca 92024) have events during the day for families with young children. Fireworks can be seen from Cottonwood Park and the Gardens later on…if you are at the park, you can see them with the Pacific Ocean as the backdrop…Daytime festivities start at 9:30 am. Fireworks start at 9pm.
