Could your holiday cheer use a little boost? Well then, hop in the car and take the family to enjoy these local holiday lights displays! 2020 has certainly been a doozy of a year, and we think these beautiful light installations are just the thing to put you in the holiday spirit – especially if you’re having trouble finding your cheer this year. Here’s the rundown of some of the best places in the area to safely enjoy a spectacular light show from your car or on a socially-distanced stroll.
Carlsbad Christmas House
Located at 7607 Romeria Street, the Carlsbad Christmas House is a popular tradition for many area families! This residential home puts on quite a display, with penguins and flamingos, the Land of Misfit Toys, a dancing Santa, and fun window displays. Check out their Facebook page for hours and dates.
Holidays in Your Car at Del Mar Fairgrounds
If you’re in the mood for something grand, then head to the Del Mar Fairgrounds for Holidays in Your Car. This is a treat for the entire family! The drive-through light show is one of the largest in Southern California and features more than one million LED lights, lasers, holograms, and projection mapping, all set to the tunes of your favorite holiday songs. The show is open from 5 pm – 10 pm through January 2. Prices are per vehicle and begin at $49. Tickets may be purchased on their website.
Northern Lights at the California Center for the Arts
Head to Escondido for a magical walking tour this holiday season. The Northern Lights at California Center for the Arts transforms their 12-acre campus into a “spectacle of light, hope, and joy after sunset each evening.” Visitors are encouraged to wander along the paths and take in the joyful holiday sights and sounds. You’ll find tunnels of twinkling lights, blow-up holiday characters, and giant LED Christmas trees. Best of all, this attraction is free! They are open daily from 4:30 pm – 9 pm through January 3.
Holidays at LEGOLAND
LEGOLAND is a great place to celebrate any holiday, but it’s especially beautiful this time of year. Kids will enjoy seeing all their favorite holiday characters for socially distanced meet-and-greets. Check out the 30-foot tall LEGO tree with more than 400 LEGO ornaments. At the end of the day, enjoy the Holiday Light Show with twinkling trees and holiday tunes. Holidays at LEGOLAND runs through January 10. Check their website for details and admission pricing.
Jingle Terrace Park in Vista
Vista is debuting a brand-new drive-through event this holiday season. Jingle Terrace Park features holiday-themed light displays in Brengle Terrace Park along the driving loop. You’ll travel through different “lands” including Ahoy to the World, Steal Home for the Holidays, ‘Twas the Moonlight Before Christmas, Winter Solstice, and more.
