We’re all a little bit Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, right? Even if you aren’t, there are plenty of places to get into the spirit of things in North County. Whether you’re into the bar scene, crave a traditional Irish meal, or want to raise some money for charity, there’s something here for you!
O’Sullivan’s Irish Pub & Restaurant – Carlsbad & Escondido
O’Sullivan’s tends to be the most popular place to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in North County. So if you like to tie one on, this is the place to go! They’ve got locations in both Carlsbad and Escondido, and they’ve been voted the Best Irish Pub in North County for the last five years. The atmosphere at the Carlsbad location is authentically old-world, with a roughly sawn wood interior that just begs for you to sit down and enjoy a leisurely pint in front of the fire. Both locations have the largest selection of Scotch and Irish whiskeys in North County and feature menu items such as Traditional Scotch Eggs, Guinness Beef Stew, and Corned Beef & Cabbage.
Hennessey’s Tavern – Carlsbad
If you’re looking for a little Irish hospitality, then head to Hennessey’s Tavern in Carlsbad. You can enjoy all the typical Irish fare including Shepherd’s Fries (fries smothered with ground beef, peas, carrots, gravy, and cheese) and Guinness-battered fish & chips. They’ve got an extensive collection of Irish whiskey to pair with your meal. Or finish off with Buena Vista’s Original Irish Coffee, made with Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey.
Vista Village Pub – Vista
Those in Vista will enjoy an evening out at the Vista Village Pub. This local favorite has a casual pub atmosphere where you always feel welcome. They’ve got an extensive menu that features some signature Celtic favorites, including Irish Stew and Bangers & Mash. They have a fully stocked bar with local craft brews on tap and a large selection of whiskeys. Whether you want to stop in for lunch or party into the night, this is the perfect place to be!
Casino Night – Vista
The Timberwolves Foundation is hosting a fun night on March 16th. Their Casino Night is a 21-and-older event that includes a St. Patrick-themed dinner, no-host bar, and Las Vegas-style gaming. There will also be raffles and a silent auction. Happening at the Vista Optimist Club, proceeds from the event benefit the Mission Vista High School. Tickets are $65 and can be purchased online.
Churchill’s Pub & Grill – San Marcos
Finally, Churchill’s Pub & Grill is the best place to enjoy St. Patrick’s Day in San Marcos. It’s got a great atmosphere that includes a pool table, steel-tipped darts, and fire pits. They’ve got 50 beers on tap and feature some Irish favorites on their menu such as fish & chips and bangers & mash. You’ll have a good time and certainly won’t leave hungry.
