Celebrate the 4th of July at these San Diego events!

National City’s 4th of July Carnival: The National City Host Lions Club invite you to celebrate the 4th of July with a weekend long carnival complete with rides, games, food, fun and fireworks! Held at Kimball Park, the event will take place from 5-11 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, from 1-11 p.m. on Saturday (includes carnival and Miss National City pageant), from 1-11 p.m. on Sunday, and from noon until 11:45 p.m. (includes fireworks at 9 p.m.).

Oceanside Independence Parade: Join the fun at the annual Independence Day Parade as it makes it way north on Coast Highway from Wisconsin Avenue to Civic Center Drive (just past City Hall). Come see floats, bands, walking groups, cool cars and much more. Our theme this year is “Legends and Legacies.” The parade starts in front of the 101 Cafe (Coast Highway at Wisconsin Avenue) at 10:00 AM. and works its way north with the first unit of the parade reaching City Hall around 10:15 AM. Running time from beginning to end is about two hours. Viewing of the parade is available from the sidewalks along the entire route. Spectators are encouraged to bring folding chairs. The highest concentration of viewers will be on the north end of the route past Seagaze Avenue. Street parking is available on the residential side streets that run parallel to the entire route (Freeman and Tremont Streets). Over 1,000 parking spaces are available in the downtown parking lots and the parking structure (to enter the downtown area from the East, you will have to cross Coast Highway at Oceanside Blvd. or Surfrider Way). Parking time limits may be enforced for street parking and parking lots – watch for the signs.

Star Spangled Pops: There is no better 4th of July event than celebrating America’s birthday with the San Diego Symphony! This all-American program features hits from movies, Broadway tunes and popular music, along with a military salute and a grand fireworks finale. Matthew Garbutt conducts. Pre-concert activities for kids begin at 6:00 PM.

Independence Day at the Border: Come and enjoy an Independence Day Celebration in San Ysidro complete with children’s inflated city, mechanical bulls, live music all day on multiple stages, drinks, food and fireworks!

City Lights Fireworks Dinner Cruise: Select Friday and Saturday nights this summer come alive on San Diego Bay! Experience the most unique dining on San Diego Bay with a three-hour cruise, boarding champagne, three-course dinner, DJ entertainment and a fireworks show to cap your night off! You’ll get a 3-hour cruise on a comfortable yacht on San Diego Bay, a boarding glass of champagne or sparkling cider, wine list and cocktails available for purchase, a 3-course dinner, DJ entertainer for music requests and dancing, Friday cruises include a live band option. Views that change with the courses, an opportunity onboard to add hors d’oeuvres and premium dessert options, and a fireworks show over the Bay (on specific dates above only). Fireworks are in conjunction with the SD Summer Pops concerts and are set off at the conclusion of the concert, typically anywhere from 9:15 to 10:00 PM. Per SD Symphony Orchestra, fireworks are subject to cancellation or delay without notice.
